Itinerary

Day 1

- Lemosho Gate (2,100m) to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,820m)

Distance: 6 km Hiking Time: 3-4 hours Vegetation: Rainforest After registration at lemosho Gate, trek through lush rainforest, possibly spotting Colobus monkeys.

Day 2

- Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,820m) to Shira 1 Camp (3,500m)

Distance: 8 km Hiking Time: 5-6 hours Vegetation: Moorland Ascend through the forest to the Shira Plateau, offering stunning views of Kibo Peak.

Day 3

- Shira 1 Camp (3,500m) to Shira 2 Camp (3,840m

Distance: 7 km Hiking Time: 3-4 hours Vegetation: Moorland A relaxed trek across the Shira Plateau, allowing for acclimatization.

Day 4

- Shira 2 Camp (3,840m) to Lava Tower (4,630m) to Barranco Camp (3,960m)

Distance: 10 km Hiking Time: 6-7 hours Vegetation: Alpine Desert Climb high to Lava Tower (4,630m) for acclimatization, then descend to Barranco Camp.

Day 5

- Barranco Camp (3,960m) to Karanga Camp (4,035m)

Distance: 5 km Hiking Time: 4-5 hours Vegetation: Alpine Desert Climb the Barranco Wall, a steep but non-technical ascent, and trek through valleys to Karanga Camp.

Day 6

- Karanga Camp (4,035m) to Barafu Camp (4,640m)

Distance: 4 km Hiking Time: 4-5 hours Vegetation: Alpine Desert A short but steep trek to Barafu Camp. Rest early before the summit push.

Day 7

- Barafu Camp (4,640m) to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) to Mweka Camp (3,100m)

Distance: 17 km (7 km to summit, 10 km descent) Hiking Time: 10-14 hours Vegetation: Arctic to Rainforest Start the summit attempt at midnight, reach Uhuru Peak at sunrise, then descend to Mweka Camp.

Day 8

- Mweka Camp (3,100m) to Mweka Gate (1,640m)

Distance: 10 km Hiking Time: 3-4 hours Vegetation: Rainforest A final descent to Mweka Gate for your summit certificate.
